Who will? Williams Will

Promise of free city circle mini-bus if re-elected

Mayor Karen Williams will deliver a free intra city mini-bus service for Redland residents within the first 100 days if re-elected.

“Traffic congestion is the number one issue affecting Redlanders and I sought feedback on how we could tackle this through the three Redland City Transport Forums that I implemented last year and which were held across the city,” Cr Williams said.

“During the forums I heard about how residents are sick of waiting for upgrades to State government roads and continue to feel that the current transport services are not sufficient.

“The mini-bus idea was one of the top suggestions during the forums and, if re-elected, I will deliver this service within the first 100 days of office.

“There is a great opportunity to work with existing community transport operators, existing bus services and tourism operators, to take cars off the roads and connect residents to key locations, such as major centres, hospitals, transport nodes and tourism spots, with the size of the bus set to increase with demand.”
