$15 million upgrade for Green Camp Road

Mayor Karen Williams has welcomed the announcement today of a $15 million upgrade to Green Camp Road, Wakerley.

The upgrade to Green Camp Road and Rickertts Road were strong points of discussion by the Cross Boundary Transport Infrastructure group initiated by Cr Williams and co-chaired with Brisbane Deputy Mayor Adrian Schrinner.  This initiative brings together elected members from Brisbane City and State Government  andwho share the Redland City boundary.

“We are now beginning to see the fruits of the relationship I have built with the Brisbane City Council with the announcement this morning by Lord Mayor Graham Quirk of road improvements to Green Camp Road and Old Cleveland Road,” Cr Williams said.

Lord Mayor Graham Quirk stated that collaborations such as this initiative by Redlands Mayor Karen Williams was critical to ensuring infrastructure that connects South East Queensland is delivered efficiently.

“Team Quirk is committed to seeing real action on traffic congestion and the relationships Mayor Williams has developed with Deputy Mayor Adrian Schrinner and local Councillor Ryan Murphy will help deliver infrastructure that will see great benefits to both Brisbane City and Redland City residents,” Cr Quirk said.

Cr Williams said she asked candidates last election to support her in delivering on the commitments Redland City residents told her were important.

“With supportive Councillors, I was able to honour and deliver on pledges I made last election,” Cr Williams said.

“Once again, I hope to honour those pledges I am making in 2016 including tackling traffic congestion.”

The Green Camp Road upgrade will involve the widening of Green Camp Road to four lanes, widening and improving culverts on two approaches and installing traffic signals.

“This is a good start and if re-elected I am committed to continuing the cross-boundary transport infrastructure group to tackle traffic congestion and see the improvements to roads that Redlanders deserve,” Cr Williams said.
